When cut, Purple Heart quickly turns from a light brown to a rich purple colour. Heat can help to bring the purple back
Exposure to ultraviolet(UV) light darkens the wood to a brown color with a slight hue of the original purple. This effect can be minimised by using a finish containing a UV inhibitor.
